Makes a Cherry burst Hummingbird really pop!
I was tempted to knock off a star for a slight mismatch in color, but the visible parts are pretty closely matched. Mc Stu sells some bone parts I would throw away. They don't even try to match colors. Natural bone varies in color, and when you have 40,000 parts it's not too hard to sort them into matching batches of 6 or 12. The red dot looks nice on our 1961 Hummingbird / Dove prototype. The camel bone is hard & dense, and it added some tone over the hardwood pins I was using. I also carved out a dummy adjustable bridge that seats in the bottom of the top bridge plate slot, which adds a lot of sustain and tone too. We tried some Gold Power Pins which really made the soft string my 80 year old mother likes sing, but she was not fond of the look. Maybe next time I will try black, & hope she does not notice.
