Bourns 500K Audio Taper Pot, Solid Shaft, Blue Box Housing
Nice pots but loose shafts feels cheap.
I figured that these pots were the best available judging by the price. I was disappointed for the following reason. The shaft is very loose, it wobbles and turns easily but not smoothly. It sounds hollow when turning it. The result is that it feels like a really cheap pot. The measured resistance was 510k Ohms which is good compared to most pots. The taper was relatively smooth. I read that these are the model 82 Vintage reissue pots and are supposed to have a plastic element with very low noise. Requires a 3/8'' dia mounting hole. The shaft is 6mm (.236'') diameter. I suspect that the body was designed for a 1/4'' shaft and Bourns used a 6 mm shaft for Allparts. Everywhere else I see these pots sold they list the shaft as 1/4''. This may explain the looseness.Reviewed by: David King from Portland OR. on 12/10/2012
Smooth even taper
This is a very lively upgrade for any electric guitar. Compared to the stock pot that it replaced it seemed to give a bit more clarity and dynamics . the smooth, even volume taper facilitates incredibly dramatic volume swells and sweet, low volume settings. My only concern is that the smooth rolling action with little to no friction makes it rather easy to contact the pot while playing and unintentionally change it's setting. Overall a more than worthwhile investment for better tone and functionality.Reviewed by: Paul Marquez from Hi desert Ca.. on 4/15/2018
