Polished nickel silver! Vintage spec, well made, & can be plated with almost anything!
These are bare nickel silver. Quality model railroad tracks are made from nickel silver for two reasons. 1, It stays cleaner longer. and 2, It stays shiny longer. Brass rail track was horrible, as it would tarnish, turn green & it was always needing to be cleaned, or the trains would not run. Nickel silver, is mostly copper, mixed with nickel, zinc, & maybe a little tin or other trace metals. These can be used as is, and look just like new vintage covers. Since they are bare nickel silver, you can plate these in copper, silver, chrome, nickel, gold, rhodium, back chrome, etc. These are well made, & vintage correct enough for me. Home plating is not too hard, & these will plate up nicely! You will need to strip & clean them thoroughly, but a nice lacquered copper plating looks great on them. A truly great product! Gibson uses nickel silver pickup covers. For whatever that is worth. It is a good material regardless, and these are well made, & comparable to OEM covers.
