Some have a notch for truss rod some don''t
It is a good Kahler style string lock. I love to use this style over the Floyd Rose because I can file a nut from bone, tusq, brass etc to fit the guitar better than using a Floyd Rose designed nut. The low E should be .02-.04'' higher than the high E. Floyd has no clue how a great guitar is set up, or they would address this in their design. Using a 12'' radius on a 12'' radius neck the G,D and A strings are too high to be a perfect fit. With the Kahler nut I can file the perfect fit. I spent 35 years wondering why some guitars could play beautifully with super low action and no string buzz. Having the larger strings higher off the frets is part of the equation. Floyd nuts throw a big wrench into it. These do not. They also keep the guitar in tune just as well. Sometimes I have to make a shim or use a string hold down bar, but for a great playing custom build I will take these every day.
